Modern management for deer stalking includes providing feed for stags during the winter. A smooth green pasture in an area of rough grazing close to a river may be the result of this practice, and is known as a deer lawn.
This deer lawn at Glen Lui in Aberdeenshire was once part of the fields of the township cleared in 1776 to make way for sheep and deer.
